Clean the Jar

August 28, 2026
Trauma looks like many, many things and experiences; abuse, neglect, indifference, bullying, death of a loved one, etc. We each have the energy of past traumas we are carrying and trying to mingle them with our other energies. Those energies of past trauma show up in our daily lives and make more work for us, though we may not recognize it that way.
It shows up as fatigue, and no matter how much you sleep, it doesn’t improve. It shows up as illness, and no matter how much medicine you take, you still don’t feel better. It shows up as anger or impatience, and no matter how much you try to bite your tongue, or say you’re sorry for lashing out, the guilt never goes away. It shows up as anxiety, and it leaves you always second guessing yourself and looking over your shoulder.
We’ve all developed coping mechanisms, though we may not know that’s what they are. Reading, writing, learning, talking, performing, etc. Each has the ability to temporarily distract us from those traumas, but when the book ends, or the ink runs out, or you’re horse from distractingly talking, there it is again…. the over-shadow has re-appeared.
Have you ever noticed that when you light a candle and there is smoke residue on the jar, that it contributes to the smoke output? Or when there is soot residue on the wick, that also contributes to the smoke output?
The candle is you; the wick is your soul, the flame is the light, the jar is your body, and the smoke residue that is on the inside of the jar is the past trauma that contributes to the smoke output. The smoke is all of the negativity we emit to the world around us.
Clean the jar. Wipe away the residue. Clear away the smoke. Restore the clarity so the flame can be seen and appreciated better.
See, your light looks brighter already.
Namaste
